How to verify website with Bing Webmaster

Hello everyone,

Here is the complete procedure how you can verify your website with Bing Webmaster in a simpler way.

1. Sign Up for Live Webmaster tools.

2. Add your site and choose the Meta validation method.

3. Copy the Live webmaster tools Meta verification code into notepad or any text editor

<meta name="msvalidate.01" content="3BFF78A453C6326E4CF15C5140BB5789" />

4. Copy the code below into the same notepad or text editor.

%22%20%2F%3E %3Cmeta name=%22msvalidate.01%22 content=%22livewebmasterid

5. Simply replace the livewebmasterid in the code with your code from the code from Live Webmaster tools.

%22%20%2F%3E %3Cmeta name=%22msvalidate.01%22 content=%223BFF78A453C6326E4CF15C5140BB5789

6. Copy the finished code (which you have in steps-5), and to your home page (default.aspx).

7. To add to your website home page, follow the steps mentioned below:

1) On the Microsoft Office Live Small Business Home page, at the top, click Web Site. Page Manager appears.

2) In Page Manager, next to the home page, click Edit. Page Editor appears.

3) In Page Editor, click Page properties, and then click Search Engine Optimization.

4) Paste the code into the keywords text box after any keywords.

Note: Make sure the whole code is pasted, since the keyword box has a character limit and if you have to many keywords and some or all of the code might not get pasted in, shouldn't have to worry, if you do, you might want to go over the list of keywords since you really shouldn't have that many.

5) Then click Apply to save your changes, or click OK to save and close the Choose page properties dialog box.

8. Go back to Live Webmaster tools and verify.

Note: If it doesn't work, view your page, make sure there is no code showing at the top.  Also right click on the page, view source, and look at the meta tags (near the top).  The validation tag should look like the orginal Google meta tag:

<meta name="msvalidate.01" content="3BFF78A453C6326E4CF15C5140BB5789" />
